Hardinge CHNC4 with Centroid T39S

This is a Hardinge CHNC4 from the mid-1980's, retrofitted with a Centroid T39S by CNC Services Northwest in early 2006.

The original GE console cabinet has been removed. The new console consists of an LCD monitor, keyboard, and jog pendant, all mounted on a swing arm attached to the guard frame.

All control electronics are now in the rear cabinet.

Automatic control is provided for all the original Hardinge accessories:

The DC spindle motor has been replaced with a 7.5HP AC motor, powered by a sensorless vector AC drive.

Rear electrical cabinet. Control computer is at lower right; combined servo drive and PLC unit is center right; and spindle drive is upper left.

The combined servo drive and PLC unit makes the control wiring much simpler and more compact than it was in the 2002 Koyo-based version.
